Friday’s Salt Spring photo was indeed of the beautiful road into Maxwell Lake/Reservoir. (kudos to Jordan for his correct guess)
The reservoir is in a great unpopulated location, just below Mount Maxwell Provincial Park and high above Ganges. With almost no human altered water coming into this lake, the water piped out of this lake is said to be Salt Spring’s best water. And water quality on Salt Spring is a huge concern.
Calling it a lake invites all kinds of unauthorized/illegal use. Why is Maxwell Lake not called Maxwell Reservoir?
Last October, while flying with Salt Spring Air, we grabbed a quick photo on the way by. It puts the reservoir’s size and elevation in perspective.

Ah! Ha ! Only those who know the secret access to Maxwell Lake would have known that answer for sure. :)
This surely does put things into perspective.
Beautiful and worthy of protection..I’d vote in on the Reservoir note..although Lake does sound more poetic.
Ironically, we were fortunate at one time to have access to the Lake, and it awed me then as it does still now.
Don’t usually have the luxury of time to respond to the photos, mostly look at them for daily inspiration…..don’t wish to fill your email with pithy comments!

Thanks John, for such a privileged glimpse into Maxwell Resevoir. It should definitely be off limits to all.
