Beach Walk

February 28, 2015

Beach Walk

Salt Spring Island has interesting rock formations on several beaches. Rock on one side, Eagles and ocean and mountains on the other. Sort of a gallery walk…

GISS Peer Tutor
Salt Spring Elementary School

Amongst the mayhem and madness of a late afternoon art project in an elementary school classroom…a lovely moment between a young student and a high school peer tutor. The capable and motivated older student had just demonstrated a technique to the younger student…who’s completely focused on giving it a try.

Pink Shirt Day

Pink
February 25th is Anti Bullying Day, (AKA Pink Shirt Day in these parts). And all of us here at SaltSpringPhotos.com, while not normally attired in pink, are certainly behind the movement which started in Nova Scotia in 2007.

Scholarship Season

2:30 pm on the banks of the lower playing field at Gulf Islands Secondary School
Lots to learn looking at this photo I think.
(this student is clearly focused on her scholarship applications, my presence was accepted—which makes my task easier)

One Year Ago

February 24, 2015

One year ago, the world looked very different on Salt Spring Island. So don’t take those snow tires off just yet (that’s presuming you actually put them on…)

Here’s the SaltSpringPhotos.com post from one year ago today:

Snow on Salt Spring Island Feb 23, 2014

Yesterday snow was coming down and gently painting the world white. We sat around the fire, watched the Olympics and pretended it was a snow day.

Today, in our neck of the woods it’s a real live snow day with almost 30 cm of the heavy stuff, trees bending and occasional power fluctuations. Love it—a gold medal weather day!
