Up in a Mixed Forest
Garry Oaks and Douglas Firs reaching for the sky. A mid-island view.
And below, a life-size look at Garry Oak bark. Kinda has you reaching for the moisturizer.
Burgoyne Bay Provincial Park
Cameron (family dog for those just joining us) took me along the waterside trail to the point past Burgoyne Bay.
And back:
This is one of those things photographers like to do: photograph what catches your eye, then turn around to check if there’s something equally good or better behind you. On these hikes I rarely lug along the heavy professional gear; lately just the diminutive Ricoh GR, a very serious fixed lens camera that fits in a pocket.
Captured, in a Tree
This old Garry Oak tree has a firm grasp on the remaining waterworks of a heritage homestead on Salt Spring Island.
