I find myself thanking Mother Nature for many October mornings like this in 2013.
The sun is a couple of minutes from rising—just to the right of Mount Baker.

Hundreds of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes ready for hundreds of pumpkin carvers in all shapes and sizes.
I saw two kids confronting this overwhelming scene. Both just had to lie on their backs in the pile. Parents whipped out smartphones and documented the event. One of the kids, a boy as a matter of fact, had to mine the pile for the very largest specimen.

A gorgeous October morning looking east from Salt Spring, over the Channel Islands, to the outer Gulf Islands and to Mount Baker.
Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
