Illtyd Perkins, sporting a Sea Capers 98 cap, arrives at the finish line first, narrowly beating the boat carrying his son and friends.
Sea Capers is back in 2013. And so is the Build a Boat Race.
Below, the first photo shows the prettiest boat (that ventured only a few feet from shore), Captain Jack starting the foot race to the boats, and a few mishaps and some mayhem. And of course, a Salt Spring free spirit oblivious to it all and performing on her own little island.
Congratulations to the organizers and volunteers.
Enjoy the story these photos tell:

From today’s technical rehearsal at ArtSpring Theatre, the Gulf Island Secondary School music students put the final touches on their end-of-semester performance. There are two different shows, one June 5 and one June 6.
As always, under the encouragement and mentoring of GISS and GISPA teacher Bruce Smith, the students once again rise to the task. And never fail to amaze.
Congrats to all the performers, particularly those in their last year at GISS.

Room for two more in this parking space in front of the Library. Smart.

At the Saturday Market. Looks like there’s a special technique for shooting those big, flat cameras from Blackberry.
