Quick trip to the west coast yesterday—got in a low tide beach walk near Port Renfrew. Easy and scenic day trip from Salt Spring.

The Gulf Islands School of Performing Arts (GISPA) has collectively created their yearly May show around Daniel Wallace’s Big Fish. The last performance is tonight at ArtSpring.
This photo is from the dress rehearsal where I had the opportunity to wander around on-stage in an attempt to capture some of the creative and performing genius of these kids.
Many of the students are proficient in more than one area; Maya Cook, above, is one of the GISPA musicians but regularly does double duty as an actor.
*The show takes place in the 50’s when images were shot in the early days of 35mm film. This low contrast, backlit image has that retro look but popped out of a digital camera pretty much as you see it.
