Part of Paul Burke’s hand carved and painted wood installation in the Salt Spring Island Public Library. Visitors see this and the other parts of the installation from below, looking up from the main floor. This is a different perspective, seen bathed in light from the mezzanine where the library’s work takes place.
Despite man’s efforts, the beavers at Dunbabin Park have expanded their territory once again. Here they’ve established a new dam, extending the pond well along the creek.
Many trees have been wrapped with chicken wire, but if the pond gets any deeper the chicken wire will be underwater and the beavers will have another shot at some of the trees…
Two trees that stand out, even in winter.
The first is the much photographed tree outstanding in its field on the Channel Ridge Farm.
The second is in the fog on Furness Road, at the bottom of Lee’s Hill on the Fulford-Ganges superhighway. We looked at this tree one year ago when it was dressed in snow.
Oh, and this tree at the edge of Burgoyne Bay Provincial Park was feeling left out, so I’ve thrown it in at no charge:
The noise of pigeons caused me to look under the platform near the Coast Guard Station in Ganges, rather than at the gorgeous sunrise sky. The surface mist was coloured by the strong sidelight of the morning sun.
