Deferred Maintenance in Ganges Harbour

Saltspring Harbour Authority Docks

All is not perfect in paradise it seems. And I’ve certainly seen better maintained sailboats on Salt Spring Island…particularly the Tanzer 7.5

Sigh… this touches a nerve. My husband and I moved this year from paradise to Victoria to live on our new boat. Paradise does not allow “legal” liveaboards. We would have liked to stay on the island and to be tied up to a dock. Short rant to follow…

A marina which operates good management, sustainability and permits liveaboards would be an economic asset to Salt Spring. Affordable housing and new jobs are badly needed on the island. This would be one way to make this happen.

We have seen these boats moored. Good subject matter for photographers but sad to see as boaters.

All the best John for the season and thank you for the reminders of this wonderful island.
