I’d of been tempted to toss a pebble at that crow before snapping the shutter!

where he has a young daughter pose candidly to give a grand image context
I think you’re right. Most photos benefit from having a main character; one main ‘focus’. And then depending on the story, something to put the main character in context or to richen the story.
