Eagles playing at Baker Beach

They’re back. It’s fun watching the young eagles playing chase games on Salt Spring beaches this time of year.

I’m sure it must great to see. And photograph.

Fun to watch and to listen to; they make some great sounds. And they’re suprisingly big with a wingspan up to 7.5 feet (2.3 metres).

And having tried to catch them myself, surprisingly difficult to do! Nice job!

Right, you’d think it would be a piece of cake with a bird that big. Sometimes I think the eagles like to have a bit of fun with you—one minute silently swooping low over your head from behind (making you jump!), the next minute landing in a tree out of sight!
