Fernwood Moonlight

October 24, 2012

Moonlight on the ocean at Fernwood

Two sources of light really. First the cool bluish light from the western moon reflected in the ocean and second, the warm light of the pre-sunrise sky on the shore. I’m sure we’ve all seen this combination before, I just can’t remember when.

This is beautiful – the moonlight and beautiful colours of sunrise.

And peaceful. The Fernwood area is wonderful in the very early morning.
This morning there was the sound of geese in the background, one of the first winter diving birds swimming under the dock, and two groups of joggers.

Lovely light, too good to pass taking a photo.

I think the long exposure makes the water look like it has brushstrokes. And contrasts well with detail on the shoreline.
This was shot a few days ago. It may never get light today… (calm, but dark with steady rain; grow those Douglas Firs and fill those wells!)

    Hi John,
Thanks for the photo. Ones like this just make me miss SSI a little more… but that’s ok :) Cheers Natascha.

      You’re welcome. It’s 5 degrees C and raining if that helps…
