December Sunrise over the Gulf Islands

A glorious sunrise today over the southern Gulf Islands. The Skeena Queen is seen chugging along from Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island (the ferry is about to pass between Piers and Knapp Islands).

It’s a marvelous country we live in! Was this taken from Maxwell?

From the south east side of Mount Tuam actually. From Mount Maxwell you can see the north west side of Mount Bruce then Mount Tuam in the distance. (as in this post; directly below the plane leaving the contrail)

Thanks John, the other picture shows it nicely. I was hoping for a good dawn shot here today, but once again the Island mountains are clouded over.

After a clear night, it clouded over here too. Almost didn’t bother heading into Ganges looking for a scene to shoot. Turned out quite extraordinary actually. Weather cleared a bit, and there was lots of fog and sunshine. Nice.
