Inside the cafeteria: a living lettuce wall sculpture (the lettuce is used in lunches prepared by cafeteria students and purchased by students and staff). Water and nutrients trickle through the piping, tickling the plant’s roots.
Outside the cafeteria: a table in the new hydroponics greenhouse.

that lettuce wall is amazing. thanks for sharing! Tamar
There are surprising and amazing things going on Gulf Islands Secondary. I’m pretty sure most of them go unnoticed by people who don’t get to be in the school day to day. Dedicated and driven staff, community support and great kids.
Beautiful! You could have spun a tale about this being some new art installation at the VAG and I would have totally believed it.
Ha Ha! Thanks Stuart.

These photos are delicious in so many ways. I’d love to have that wall in my house!
Why not? Nice project.
Very cool idea! Are you able to pass contact details at GISS on this project?

The general contact info is on the school home page:
