Old Home on Mount Tuam, Salt Spring Island

An old home past its prime on Mount Tuam, Salt Spring Island.

While exploring the wilds of Mount Tuam on the weekend, we stumbled upon this old homestead. And paradoxically, what appears to be the beginnings of a subdivision in one of Salt Spring’s highest areas.

    Intriguing! Any idea when anybody last lived here? I love the old bits of cardboard (or wood?): “Rogers Golden Syrup”, “Icecream”. Somebody tried to repair the wall and then one day they just gave up…

      I couldn’t see any dates, so I’m not sure. Perhaps someone else knows. I have seen cardboard and paper used to both decorate and help stop drafts. But this place is far beyond that. Too sketchy to enter…

    I hiked through this area several times in the days before Mt. Tuam Estates was developed and stopped by the cabin. Check it out in a month or so and you will find daffodils scattered around the area around the house.
