Orcas. A mother and calf swim by at dusk.
A bit far for a good look from shore, even with a long lens. But it was still a special moment! A dozen or so individually swam by over a period of 20 minutes, each surfacing occasionally for a couple of seconds.
The mother and calf were the only two swimming together and they were perfectly synchronized.
A beautiful moment in time. All Mother and child relationships should flow so smoothly!
Indeed.
Thanks for sharing this. So wonderful. I can almost feel the happy in that little baby orca in the second photo.
Your welcome Gayle. I struggled with the 2nd photo; just a tiny piece of the captured image as the Orcas were quite far out. I had it in, removed it then added it back. There’s something about the scene in the first I like and wondered if the second would detract.
The second is such a lucky (I mean skillful) capture that it would have been a shame not to share it. The first is serenity, the second, pure joy. Love them!
OK, thanks. It was very close to darkness and still which enhances the images for me.
The sound of them blowing as they surfaced I’m sure could be heard for at least a mile.
Great captures, and lucky that you were out there. That’s where they belong.
