Here’s Ken Renaud at home on Salt Spring Island in front of a boat he once began to restore. Ken’s company, Blue Frontier Investments, has been developing the Pacific Golden Mussel on the northern British Columbia coast for the past decade. His story is currently featured in the Globe and Mail’s in Business magazine.
The magazine did not use the photo above, rather one from this series:

Anyone recognize where Ken is sitting?
Two really fine portraits of Ken.
Well thanks Stephan, it was raining in both shots could you tell on the web images?
Short shutter speeds to avoid seeing the rain?
Actually not this time Stuart. It was a dark day, especially in the trees near Ken’s boat. For that series I used an exceptionally fast 85mm (f/1.2) so I could get to ISO 200; the Globe magazine has excellent reproduction so the highest quality image was the goal. However there were a few distracting water drops on his glasses. Those were reduced in post-production. (and yes, in the days of film, they would be hand spotted out too…)
For the beach series, it was a tiny bit brighter and I wanted to get the background mountains closer so I used the 300mm wide open at 2.8. If you look closely in the darkest tree areas you should see the light rain falling.
