Really Big Paintings

November 1, 2013

a like-like Chemainus mural

On a recent day trip to Vancouver Island, I had a choice of wandering around the mural town of Chemainus or sitting an extra half-hour in the ferry line at Crofton. I sometimes have trouble with decisions, but this one was easy.

I particularly like the way the flat, late day light helped these two murals blend in with the three dimensional world.

I was just reading about a study that measured how long we look at images now, compared to how long we looked at them pre-internet.

I’m wondering how long people looked at the second image in this post (with the crosswalk).
