Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
I’m in total agreement. Great catch.
Love it..Love it! This picture is “truly worth a thousand words”!
Thanks Renee and Paul. I feel fortunate to have happened across this scene. It’s not often in a small place that you get a chance like this.
There are no words that I can say to tell you how much I enjoy your photos, I am so envious; it is like getting a lovely gift each day. Have you ever taken a photo of that little house across from the Fulford Pub?
I will tell you a story. I had a cleaning girl, she was a free spirit. She had 2 boys. They had different fathers. Their birthdays were close so she’d have a big party for them in Drumond Park and everyone was invited. Nowadays when children play they scream a lot, but these children played and had a great time.
I am 77 so it took me back in time, It came time to leave and as I drove off I was feeling–what a lovely afternoon. I turned on the car radio and a jazz singer was singing Summertime. I thougt how perfect and then I looked to the right and there was a tall naked man coming out of the water, and I thought: this is Salt Spring.
Later I was driving a friend to the ferry and as we passed the little house, the fellow was sawing on a log he had brought up from the beach in an old baby buggy he had found. I said to my friend, “I have seen that man naked.”
I have lived here 25 years and I love it. Thank you again for your wonderful gift. —Sharon.
Thanks for taking the time to comment Sharon. Lovely story!
I believe I have photographed the “roadside display’ at that hard-to-see house on the corner. I’ll dig it up and post it next week.
Wow. The light on his face is amazing. The book he’s reading. A gift. You might want to print out a copy and give it to the subject because I’m guessing he may not have access to the Internet.
Good idea, thanks Gayle.
