It’s somewhat terrifying when an accident with fire happens in your neighbourhood in the driest year on record. Quick response by neighbours, RCMP, Salt Spring Fire, and Hydro got this fire under control before it could spread on a windy day. The fire fighters were particularly impressive; a well oiled machine. Thanks!
If you live anywhere in the Gulf Islands and needed a reminder about how dry the Islands are, you have it.
Some damage, but it could have been very much worse. Excellent shots!
Thanks.
This is far too close to home and too early in the season! Great to know that you have awesome firefighters nearby. Very scary situation but great images! Silk purse from a sow’s ear.
Yes were all hoping for a safe summer.
That’s an interesting expression by the way.
Good to see that they stopped it in time. My dad was in the volunteer fire fighting force for 25 years.
They did a great job, it would have been a close thing in say 10 minutes; or if the wind picked up.
Good on your dad.
It is going to be a tinder-dry year, and we need to be extra cautious this summer with fire, as it is indeed going to be keeping our fire fighters busy this summer. Please be careful out there.
This is one of the reasons I like living here. We are surrounded by Volunteer Firemen and Firewomen that are very well trained and very professional in what they do.A compassionate group of people who put their lives on the line 24/7 with little or no pay and , in my opinion, do a fantastic job. Thank you to all those who take the time to ensure our safety.
I second all of that Doug!
