Looking up in an old-growth forest
This week I had the good fortune to wander, alone, for two hours in a grove of ancient trees. I did not see or hear any people, cars or other activity. The look, the smell, but mostly the feel of a true old-growth forest is something we should all get a chance to do. Once you do you’ll not mistake it for a bunch of big trees in a forested area. It’s different and it’s precious. And it’s not just a bunch of clear lumber.
Of course I did take a number of photographs. Couldn’t not. But without a reference, many lack scale. They aren’t just big, their huge. Just look at the pair of Douglas Firs in the photo above. But how big are they really?
So I included the only ‘reference model’ around. Kind of like a Sasquatch sighting.
