Here’s an starkly beautiful image taken from the Kettle River Provincial Park (near Rock Creek). We’re looking above the old Kettle River Railway and the Kettle River, across the road to Kelowna and to the hills beyond.

Mount Erskine Hike
It’s been awhile since Cameron and I have hiked to the Erskine summit. We headed up yesterday in the rain and saw something we hadn’t seen for months: puddles!
Despite the drought, the forest greens were looking healthy. There were also signs of heavy trail use, but not a single bit of litter.
Sitka and Cedar
Sunlight touches part of a Sitka Spruce.
A giant Red Cedar springboard stump sits in the background.

(Do you remember the springboard stump featured earlier this year?)
Yeo Point, Salt Spring Island
Superb summer hike out to the Arbutus trees at Yeo Point (and beach). This is the northern limit of Ruckle Park on Salt Spring Island.
Elephant
We came across this beast on the short hike to South Beach (from the Wickaninnish Interpretive Center). Cameron trotted on by like the fearless little Westie that he is.
