I saw a photo the other day that might have been taken at this same spot and thought I’d stop on my way by and give it a try. The winter tides are lowest at night and the Fernwood Pier lights shine all night, illuminating the normally submerged sand and seaweed.
Is the beach all the way to the wharf? Some low tide. When do you ever sleep? You are up at the crack of dawn and at night, too. Thank you for prowling about our island so diligently while we are asleep. Tamar
There’s some water this side of the dock, but not enough for most sailboats. I was returning from Ganges after a (rare) evening shoot, and I knew the low tide time. So it seemed a perfect time for a quick stop. As you can see, the stars were out, partially obscured by some light fog.
It makes for a rather dramatic shot!
Thanks.
Love this. It looks like an Edward Hopper painting. It has that mood to it with the darkness and the lights. Great capture, John.
Oh my. Thanks Gayle!

Fernwood is such a photogenic site.
Sure is. Looks like you were using a slightly wider lens. (I used a 50mm)
