Returning home from an early morning photo session, I happened upon this scene. It was cold, wet, and heavily overcast. But the low winter sunlight dramatically lit the trees on a small part of the shore. I was lucky to see this and even luckier to grab the photo. The point was lit for about a minute.
*IMPORTANT NEWS AT SALT SPRING PHOTOS
Many of you have chosen to have your Photo of the Day delivered via daily email. But the mailperson’s been on strike the last couple of weeks.
The good news is: the mailperson’s back and the automatic email issues have been solved. But you need to sign up again with this much more secure mail delivery service. So go ahead, don’t be shy!

It’s a beautiful scenery. It’s very dark this time of the year so I know that you have be quick with the camera when you get the opportunity to shoot something like this.
Thanks Steffe. Looks like you are about 10 degrees north of us and have almost 2 hrs less light per day! Really it’s amazing you get the photos you do. I hope visitors to this page will have a look at your photos of the day from Sweden .
By the way, very clever what you’ve done today and what you do comparing season.
Ansolutely fantastic!! Thank you.
Thanks for dropping by Lisa.

That would be printed and on my wall if it was my shot!
It’s on my list of personal prints Paul. And it was shot with one my best lenses at at low ISO on a tripod with a full frame camera. Sharp as a tack with excellent enlargement potential.
Thanks for the comment.
Yes, the gear does make a difference!
Do you print your own? I’ve ordered an Epsom 3880, should be here next week, and my own “print list” has been getting longer while I wait. I’m looking forward to playing with it, and doing some larger prints.
I recently gave my R800 away. I used to print everything and now…I print nothing. The large format printers are tempting, thats for sure.
