The noise of pigeons caused me to look under the platform near the Coast Guard Station in Ganges, rather than at the gorgeous sunrise sky. The surface mist was coloured by the strong sidelight of the morning sun.

GISS Music
A few of the many, many talented music students from Mr. Smith’s classes at Gulf Islands Secondary impressed recently at ArtSpring.
Canterbury Tales at ArtSpring
2nd Story Theatre from Gulf Islands Secondary hard at work on the technical rehearsal of their adaptation of The Canterbury Tales. It’s a fun, energetic and humorous show which plays tonight and tomorrow night at ArtSpring.
Hand Forest
Looks like the GISS Scorpions Senior Girls team had their hands full (see what I did there?) with the Kwalikum Kondors (different spelling rules in Qualicum Beach). This was the first game of the 2013 Nairn Howe Memorial Basketball Tournament.
Actually the next photo tells the photojournalistic story in a more graphic way. Clearly the home team is in trouble; the scoreboard shows the lopsided score late in the final period. Lots of defence, not much offence. All five Kondors are closing in for the kill.
That’s not to say that GISS didn’t play a determined game. I like the story the photo below tells.
* It was great to see so many people out to the opening of Fernwood Photos at the Fernwood Café yesterday. Thank you for the many comments about enjoying the Salt Spring Photo of the Day delivery each weekday morning. My apologies for a few rushed conversations! And congratulations Gill on your purchase!
From Fernwood Pier
5:45 pm: The western sky from Fernwood Pier.
After hanging the prints at Fernwood Café, I couldn’t resist a quick night walk out on the dock; as always, no disappointment.
Should be a nice afternoon for a walk along the Fernwood shore tomorrow. Why not stop at the Café and have a look at some photos? ;)
