Maxwell Lake on Salt Spring Island
Friday’s Salt Spring photo was indeed of the beautiful road into Maxwell Lake/Reservoir. (kudos to Jordan for his correct guess)
The reservoir is in a great unpopulated location, just below Mount Maxwell Provincial Park and high above Ganges. With almost no human altered water coming into this lake, the water piped out of this lake is said to be Salt Spring’s best water. And water quality on Salt Spring is a huge concern.
Calling it a lake invites all kinds of unauthorized/illegal use. Why is Maxwell Lake not called Maxwell Reservoir?
Last October, while flying with Salt Spring Air, we grabbed a quick photo on the way by. It puts the reservoir’s size and elevation in perspective.

Short Flight
A SaltspringAir dockhand gets a ride over to the fuel dock. And that’s the 151 foot yacht After Eight in the background.
