Hot and dry. It must be haying time again on Salt Spring Island.

From our deck and from the office*, we love to watch the sculptures change daily on this Arbutus tree.
The photos below show the tree the first day of peeling, and three days after the peeling began.
It takes about one week for the south side to completely peel.
The Arbutus is an evergreen tree which grows close to the ocean. As the weather becomes warm and dry, many of the leaves fall and the bark begins to peel to reveal a new skin.

*This Arbutus is beside a small Maple where we sometimes see an owl.

The Salt Spring airline has gone upscale in Vancouver. Passengers now touch down right at the Convention Centre float plane terminal.
