Gotta Serve Somebody

Gotta Serve Somebody by Gulf Island Secondary School Acting 11/12. Photos were taken during yesterday’s dress rehearsal run-through. The show runs today and tomorrow at ArtSpring.

Acting 11/12's Gotta Serve Somebody

Opening for Acting 11/12 is Drama 9/10. For many of these students, it’s their first time on stage. Their second short performance is called This is a Test. Very funny! Nice to see some kids up their making their first performance and lots of grade 12s making their final performance.

Loft in a Salt Spring Island Barn

Came across this loft today in what was being called a barn.
Nice barn.

Downstairs in a Salt Spring Island Barn

Geeky, Photographer Stuff:
The top image is from a JPEG, with very minor editing (some dodge/burn, a slight perspective adjustment, auto white balance and gorgeous colour) from the Fuji X E-1 mirrorless camera. Note the shutter speed, handheld. Interesting…
ISO 800,  f/10,  1/17 sec,  -0.67ev,  18mm (27mm equiv)
The bottom image is from a RAW file, again with fairly minor editing, from the Canon 1DX camera. The camera was on a tripod. The colour, while very different from upstairs is as I saw it; so the colour hasn’t been changed.
ISO 100,  f/8,  1/25 sec,  -01.67ev,  17mm

Salt Spring Sea Capers Boat Race 2013

June 10, 2013

Sea Capers Build a Boat Winners

Illtyd Perkins, sporting a Sea Capers 98 cap, arrives at the finish line first, narrowly beating the boat carrying his son and friends.

Sea Capers is back in 2013. And so is the Build a Boat Race.

Below, the first photo shows the prettiest boat (that ventured only a few feet from shore), Captain Jack starting the foot race to the boats, and a few mishaps and some mayhem. And of course, a Salt Spring free spirit oblivious to it all and performing on her own little island.

Congratulations to the organizers and volunteers.

Accidental Sunday #32

June 9, 2013

Software Mess-up

Here’s another mishap. Not too long ago while working with well known image editing software, which will go unnamed, something odd happened. I don’t know why and, thankfully, haven’t been able to recreate the problem.

This should appear as one normal (hold on, who wants to call their creations ‘normal’)… Let’s just say this should appear as one image, not a patchwork of repeated pieces.

Fortunately there’s an upside. I’m calling it art.

Anyone seen anything like that?
