I saw this truck a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to make a portrait. A foggy afternoon seemed perfect to capture the muted colours, the texture and the mood of this old workhorse put out to pasture.
It’s a Chevy 1420 series pickup, probably built in the early 1950’s. But I’ll leave that to the experts. Anyone?

The hundred mile diet is alive and growing on Salt Spring. The Tuesday Food Market takes place until the end of October.
And this week all the fruit and veggies enjoyed nature’s free rinse.
This is sort of the flip side of yesterday’s photo.
“Driven a Ford lately?” and “Quality is Job 1” come to mind on this “Island car”. Also a real do-it-yourself-maintenance is apparent. And there’s no need to waste precious water on washing this beast…seen parked in downtown Ganges.
There they were, two hot cars baking in the sun.
Quick, up the drawbridge. Things are getting out of control here. An H2 Hummer and a Porsche 911? Seriously? OK, I’ll admit to being curious about the Hummer; be fun to take the original Hummer off-road in the backwoods of the BC Interior. And as some of you know Porsche has always been high on my lust list.
But here on the Island I can’t imagine two more impractical vehicles.
