Rain Walker in Ganges

Rain Walker in Ganges

A woman walks from Thrifty Foods to her car (and dogs?) during last weekend’s downpour. It seems the water is reluctant to give up her boot.

And it seems a bit crazy that a main road in town runs straight through a pack of parking lots. Road or parking lot? Lots of confusion, especially during tourist season.

Ganges

Morning Commute in Ganges

Another Ganges rush ‘hour’ scene.

This time a life-jacket-free man rows from a moored boat into town. And someone talks on a cell phone on the boardwalk (yes, there is cell service in Ganges, at least on the Telus/Bell network).

Meanwhile, Cape Naden sits patiently, ready to leap into action. Some pigeons flutter about. And a seagull claims the high ground.

Have you battled rush hour in Ganges?

A SaltSpringAir Beaver taxis for takeoff

Welcome to Salt Spring Photos for 2014.

A Salt Spring Air De Haviland Beaver taxis toward some fog and low cloud during an early morning take-off from Ganges. This photo was used on Salt Spring Air’s January 2014 calendar page and their Christmas card.

Thanks to everyone who persevered through the 2013 polls over the last several days. Click  to see the final Top Ten Reader’s Choice Salt Spring Photos for 2013.

Gulf Islands International Program Fair

SD64 International Program Fair

Brazilian Student at GISS

This is a candid image taken in the multipurpose room at Gulf Islands Secondary. Each International Program student had prepared samples of their home country’s foods. And they were handing out free samples, so there was a big crowd of hungry teens on hand.

I noticed a narrow beam coming from a second story window about 100 feet away. This girl stepped into the light and in front of a colourful poster.

Today is the last day of classes before the break. The mid-way point in the year, and the second semester at GISS, begins in February.
