In the Saltspring Island Middle School woodwork shop.
This grade eight student is checking the progress of her bevel. It looks like she’s set the plane down on the blade, but it’s just the angle of the shot. The heel of the plane is down, but not the blade. I noticed she would plane a few strokes then lean over quickly for a close look before continuing.

The Senior Boys AA Vancouver Island Championships was hosted at Gulf Islands Secondary School this year. The local team placed 6th on Vancouver Island.
Meanwhile, the GISS Senior Boys AA soccer team are currently at the BC Provincials. They won the first three games to take their pool. I just heard they lost a heartbreaker yesterday afternoon and will play today at 11 am for 3rd place in British Columbia. Amazing result for the small town group!
