Despite a “cloudy day” forecast, this was the scene near the top of Mount Erskine.

Junipers and deck blanketed in snow. Happy Winter!
This was the scene outside our front door yesterday morning.
Thought for the day:
A four wheel drive vehicle even with locking differential is not really 4WD in the snow,
if it’s not equipped with good snow tires…

Wintering and year-round boats in Ganges Harbour. And an island-size ferry in the background.

Mount Erskine forest as seen from one of the northern trails.
Douglas fir, Salal, moss, ferns and rock on an overcast west coast morning.
Good for the soul.

Ice No. 5
10:30 a.m.
Ice and snow on a mountain pond.
Funny, I remember how idyllic this pond looked back in June, 2013. Much colder and snowier up the mountain during our lake search. And desolate. Black and white seemed to tell the story.
This ends a look at ice this week on Salt Spring Photos. Hope you enjoyed it and are revelling in the rain.
