A summer storm rumbled over Salt Spring Island last evening, reminding me of the Ontario storms we used to watch from the screened-in porch at the cottage. The storms seemed incredibly intense, but perhaps were rendered bigger by a child’s perspective.

This great clear weather has given us a string of gorgeous evening vistas from an upstairs window. It’s 9:30 pm and we’re looking north across the top of Salt Spring, over Wallace Island, Galiano Island, and Georgia Strait towards the Sechelt and Gibsons area.
The World‘s been visiting Salt Spring Island the last couple of days. Safely anchored last night, south of the Sister’s Islands (with Prevost Island in the near foreground), the ship slipped away at midnight to continue her 2012 voyage. An interesting, if extraordinarily expensive concept.
