Beautiful! what is it? How do you get the black background? Did you cut the stem?
I can’t remember what this is called. Perhaps someone will let us know.
Normally I’d just wait until the light is right outside and prop up a something black for a background. But it was windy though with nasty light.
I brought it inside, (yes, had to cut it…), used one light from the right side for main and one couple of stops less from upper left for a bit of fill.
Decided it would help to underexpose a bit. Took one shot; it looked good so I stopped. (It doesn’t always go this well.)

Crocosmia “Lucifer” I think! Lovely!
Excellent, thanks for that Susan!
Gorgeous, but. Did you get in trouble for cutting it???
Not yet. There are quite a number starting to bloom—so I think I’ll be OK.
Beautiful!
Thanks!
