Cameron, the West Highland Terrier is back for another appearance on Salt Spring Photos. He’s got both ears up because he’s a big little dog now. And, he’d like to be in charge.
Saltspring Sunset Portrait

A light rain was beginning to fall, the sky was dark and threatening, and the sun was trying to break though on the horizon. A perfect chance for this young couple to try their hand at sunset portraiture in the grasses at Channel Ridge Farm on the west side of Salt Spring Island.

Salt Spring Traffic Sign

Traffic can get pretty hectic on Salt Spring Island in the summer. Good thing we’ve got the signage.
Howe Sound Queen

That’s the BC Ferries Howe Sound Queen which plies the waters daily between Crofton and Vesuvius. Just back from a refit, the freshly painted ferry glistens during a brief break in the clouds.
The Howe Sound Queen is the only BC Ferry built in Canada outside of British Columbia. She was previously named Napoleon L. and operated in Quebec until 1971. She was purchased by B.C. Ferries that year for $350,000 (Bannerman, 173). Upon arrival on the coast, the Howe Sound Queen underwent a $250,000 refit and was then placed on the Bowen Island – Hoseshoe Bay route. On that route she was affectionately (or not) nicknamed the “Hound” for her lack of amenities and poor handling of heavy seas.
