Once Upon a Time

Skatepark Art?

Once upon a time the Kanaka Road Skatepark was covered with carefully painted artwork. And some touching memorials to Salt Spring ‘kids’ (Clark and Diana). It was great to see!

Now there are a couple—I saw only two—carefully crafted ‘tags’. The remainder was, in my view, not as interesting as bare concrete. Sadly there seemed a lack of ownership and pride in the place generally. Things change I suppose; fingers crossed a new generation of kids will return the skatepark to its glory days.
