Welcome Poles at Xwaaqw’um (Burgoyne Bay)

Salt Spring Photographer John Cameron
The last of the leaves let go of their tenacious grip today. Still, I’m going to admire them until it’s time to ‘clean-up’.
This is the obligatory and official ‘fall leaves photo of 2016’ on Salt Spring Photos.

Once upon a time the Kanaka Road Skatepark was covered with carefully painted artwork. And some touching memorials to Salt Spring ‘kids’ (Clark and Diana). It was great to see!
Now there are a couple—I saw only two—carefully crafted ‘tags’. The remainder was, in my view, not as interesting as bare concrete. Sadly there seemed a lack of ownership and pride in the place generally. Things change I suppose; fingers crossed a new generation of kids will return the skatepark to its glory days.
Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
