Behind the scenes I’m still sorting through a goodly number of photos from our brief getaway to Ucluelet. I think this one is interesting because it’s from a hiker’s perspective. It shows much of what the Wild Pacific Trail looks like.
From the sunny spot on the trail you have an unobstructed view out to the ocean. Notice how even, wide and well maintained the trail is. Notice too what the prevailing wind has done to the bushes at this spot where the wind funnels from the open ocean, through a bay and up the slope.
love this trail…going there nest week….
Excellent. Hope you get useable weather!
Dear John,
I have been meaning to write in for some time to let you know how much my spouse and I have enjoyed your Salt Spring photos of the day. We signed up to the list a couple years ago when we lived in ultra-urban Vancouver, visiting Salt Spring occasionally as tourists, but in October 2015 we moved to the south end of Salt Spring full time. The inspiration of your photos helped to nudge us in the direction of diving fully into island life. We continue to enjoy your photos and commentary, but from the different perspective of islanders. My mother-in-law also subscribes (she lives in Utah) and loves your images.
Many thanks to you and Cameron for providing this service to our community and beyond!

Welcome to the Island. And thanks for the kind words. I hope you are enjoying life on Salt Spring and are finding time to explore its nooks and crannies!
I’ll pass on your comments to Cameron, though it’s likely to go to his big Westie head…
