From the Office Window

pileated woodpecker from office window

Through the office window on a dark rainy day, a Pileated Woodpecker and I keep an eye on each other.

bonus: the bird was frozen on this Douglas Fir for more than six hours. Only its head was moving. I’ve read this can have something to do with that pesky hawk again. (after an altercation with a predator, the woodpecker may not return to its nest until the hawk has left the area)

Frozen 6 hours! Did you watch it that long? It certainly isn’t camouflaged from a pesky hawk. I wonder if the Pileated Woodpecker was scared?

Have a great day! Can’t wait to see what you are up to next.

Well, I didn’t sit and stare at it that’s what you mean :-)
But I was curious enough to check it out every 20 minutes or so.
Busy week here, lots of work arriving all at the same time!
