In the Saltspring Island Middle School woodwork shop.
This grade eight student is checking the progress of her bevel. It looks like she’s set the plane down on the blade, but it’s just the angle of the shot. The heel of the plane is down, but not the blade. I noticed she would plane a few strokes then lean over quickly for a close look before continuing.
The studio-like background is courtesy of the white warehouse door behind her.
Creamy Sunrise

Creamy sunrise in Ganges Harbour
Twilight started at 7:02 with sunrise at 7:38. The sun has moved right to 121 degrees, will move to 126 degrees before Christmas ; directly out the harbour. Best time of year on the docks.
The soft look on the water and movement in the clouds is created by a long exposure (18 seconds).
Leaving Ganges Harbour

A Salt Spring Air De Haviland Beaver keeps the Sisters Islands to port as it leaves Ganges Harbour for Vancouver.
Run Rabbit

An accidental picture.
Apparently when a rabbit runs across the path on which you are walking your a white West Highland Terrior, the Westie must give chase.
And this sometimes leads to a leash tangle of considerable proportion and a premature exposure.
Happy Saturday from Salt Spring Photos!
Well Dressed, but still Outside

Came across these two well dressed dogs outside the Salt Spring Library. Despite their upscale attire, they didn’t make it past the front door.
They did though get hooked up with their best friend and walked off looking forward to a long afternoon reading by the fire.
Not sure about the pitchfork:

November Ice

Ice patterns in a water collection barrel; coloured by a stunningly blue sky.
We still have the water in our barrel, it’s just harder. And much more interesting.
Welcome back winter!
Volleyball Island Championships

The Senior Boys AA Vancouver Island Championships was hosted at Gulf Islands Secondary School this year. The local team placed 6th on Vancouver Island.
Meanwhile, the GISS Senior Boys AA soccer team are currently at the BC Provincials. They won the first three games to take their pool. I just heard they lost a heartbreaker yesterday afternoon and will play today at 11 am for 3rd place in British Columbia. Amazing result for the small town group!
