A second full moon this month made for an awesome August vista for Island visitors.

Smiles and thumbs-up as this Jeep wins the big-squeeze-last-on-the-ferry lottery.
Much better than that first-car-left-behind feeling…
Last weekend is often one of the busiest of the summer; this week’s long weekend is often more quiet as families get reorganized for the school year.

This little one seemed trapped inside the “Morningside Organic Bakery Cafe & Bookstore” (isn’t that a mouthful!)
I haven’t been in the store for many years. It has a somewhat scary, but certainly home-grown look. Dare I venture in?

Another great view, smack dab on the side of the Fulford-Ganges Superhighway!

It’s true, dogs are not allowed on the playing fields at Portlock Park (nasty fine too). But I can’t help wonder what kind of fun a Border Collie would have had there yesterday.
A portion of the view from a south Salt Spring home captured this weekend on a spectacular late summer evening. We’re looking south east down Haro Strait to Mount Baker. That’s Russell Island on the left (with the anchored boats), Portland Island in the center, and Piers Island and Swartz Bay on the right.

See also a winter sunrise from the same area. And another winter sunrise from the same area.

I had a look around and saw some interesting things for sale. Actually, I’m not entirely sure what was for sale and what wasn’t. Perhaps everything if the price was right.
Everything from bottles of Wormwood Tincture to calendars of naked Salt Spring women. And a donation box for the Mud Girls.
Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
