A cloudy day, after sunset looking east.
The ambient colour of the night sky is much cooler than the man-made lighting of the home—until the sky is black.
Even on an overcast day.
And that’s why it’s sometimes called blue hour.

8 pm East Point, Saturna Island
A late summer trip to Saturna, so close but (by ferry) so far.
After the sun set, there were a few magical moments in the eastern sky; the clouds lit up and were reflected in the blue water. A ‘supermoon’ provided amazing ambiance. And a warm light breeze began to pattern the still ocean surface.
Spectacular really. And then we turned to look at the western sky…but that’s tomorrow’s photo of the day.
Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
