The view from my home office yesterday evening.

Pileated Woodpeckers in our front yard.
There were four bouncing around on this tree. Quite a sight as we rarely see them, and when we do, it’s usually just one at a time.

Ganges, 2:30 pm
Salt Spring wildlife in a big hurry to get somewhere. Obviously not one of the Island’s SLOW proponents.

Every morning we hear several minutes of battle cry.
This little guy has been SUPER busy, racing around one tall fir at our place and knocking down cones. Sounds like a war zone.
This photo was taken with a long lens; the squirrel was 12 metres above the ground. And is seen here fearlessly working ‘upside down’.
We’ve lived in the same area for over 30 years and this is the first squirrel we’ve seen.

A rabbit hanging out in the ‘back forty’. Or in our case, 0.40 (acre).
We were eyeing each other through the living room window.

Another rabbit (or same; they all look the same to me).
This time in the front unwatered ‘lawn’ watching the sunset.
Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
