9:30 pm Sunset walk on Fernwood Pier

I met these friendly folks—visiting from Seattle—at the Mount Maxwell lookout. They’d spent an afternoon hiking the mountain trails.
The road to the top is rough these days but their intrepid Subaru was up to the challenge.

The Mount Maxwell fairies apparently grow these tiny (one inch) flowers.
Just to be clear neither Cameron nor I actually saw any fairies on our hike yesterday afternoon.

Afternoon cold front passes across Ganges Harbour bringing rain and fast changing spring skies.

What better way to spend Earth Day, or any day, than discovering a new (to us) loop trail on the slopes of Salt Spring’s Mount Maxwell?
The trail above quickly entered old growth territory and became even more magical. The summit surprised us as it was partially enveloped in cloud. Particularly to the west and north.
