Looking North from Salt Spring Island

This great clear weather has given us a string of gorgeous evening vistas from an upstairs window. It’s 9:30 pm and we’re looking north across the top of Salt Spring, over Wallace Island, Galiano Island, and Georgia Strait towards the Sechelt and Gibsons area.

On Mount Maxwell

Maxwell

That’s Lara and John of Mt. Maxwell Coffee Roasters, seen here in a Mount Maxwell meadow. (see what I did there?)

They are crafters of fresh, small batch coffee. When you are on Salt Spring, you can try a cup at Bruce’s Kitchen, The Fernwood Road Cafe, TJ Beans or Auntie Pestos. You can also visit their roadside stand on Cranberry Road.

We’ve seen this Salt Spring sign before. But it’s wonderful this year so I couldn’t resist.

Smart Meter on Salt Spring Island

Lots of controversy around these parts over “Smart Meters”. Among other things, smart meters communicate back to the mothership.

This sign, posted in Ganges, is one of many I’ve seen.

Preparing to cast off

This vessel shuttles people from the head of the harbour (Saltspring Marina, Hastings House, Harbour House, Harbour’s End Marine, Moby’s Pub, etc.) to the dock downtown near the float planes, Coast Guard, and downtown shopping.

The Ganges Harbour Shuttle

Underway and in no hurry. This ain’t the mainland you know.

On the Boardwalk

On the Ganges Boardwalk

It’s always interesting people watching on the boardwalk in downtown Ganges. You just never know when you might see The Stinky Pond Cafe t-shirt.
