The World‘s been visiting Salt Spring Island the last couple of days. Safely anchored last night, south of the Sister’s Islands (with Prevost Island in the near foreground), the ship slipped away at midnight to continue her 2012 voyage. An interesting, if extraordinarily expensive concept.
The World is 194 m x 28 m.

Canada Geese out for a weekend sunset swim at Hudson Point, Salt Spring Island.

The Milau Bulker is a box-shaped log bulk carrier, built in 2012 and caries the Singapore flag. She’s 586 feet long with a 100 foot beam. It seems she came to Crofton from Shanghai and is now headed for Taicang, China.
I saw her loading while travelling on the Howe Sound Queen from Vesuvius on Salt Spring Island to Crofton on Vancouver Island.

This interesting moth, perhaps a Hyalophora euryalus, was in our front yard today.
