Dull Day

December 22, 2015

Dull Day

Overcast, light showers, grey, fog patches, dark. The shortest day of the year was, as far as I could tell, short on pretty.
And I’m hoping this dull monochrome image portrayed the day well.
Still holding out hope for a glimpse of the rare Christmas full moon…

This is the Booth Canal area during the high ‘winter’ tides.

Crofton Mill

11:58 a.m. At Catalyst’s Crofton Mill
There’s plenty of ‘off-island’ travel during the pre-holiday season to and from Salt Spring Island. So Salt Springer’s get to spend ample time at BC Ferry terminals taking in the nearby sights. Two ships were loading while I was waiting in line, the Star Kirkenes, registered in Bergen, Norway and the Yunnan, registered in Hong Kong. It’s easy to look these up on the Internet to find out information about the vessels and to track their current locations.

It’s no 1996

December 18, 2015

Snowstorm, climate warming style

Yesterday the sky was full of snow, but it didn’t amount to anything—except for cold and wet slop on the back of your neck. It even made for a very sad photo. Hopefully this wasn’t our ‘snow’ for 2015…I’m ready for another 1996. How about you?

Sky View

Sky View

So here we are getting distracted on a real estate shoot and looking over this mystery car in bay number one of a three car garage. Beyond there’s a crushed rock parking lot a fabulous home with a 180 degree view of Salt Spring (including Ganges), the ocean, outer Gulf Islands, Georgia Strait, the North and West Vancouver hillsides and the snow covered coastal mountains beyond.

Any car buffs out there? What’s the car?
I’m sure it’s not the Batmobile…

While you’re mulling that over, here’s a look thorough a longish lens. Taken from a deck on the view side of the house.
