Canto Crash near Radar Hill
This is the February 8, 1945 crash site of a RCAF Canso/Catalina. It’s near Radar Hill in the Pacific Rim National Park between Ucluelet and Tofino. There’s a detailed story by Dirk Septer of the crash (at this link).

Bonus:
The trail* to the crash site winds through this abandoned building:

Abandoned Building Near Radar Hill Crash Site
* as of June 2016, the ‘trail’ from the abandoned building to the crash site was extremely muddy; it’s possible to sink your foot 6 to 12 inches into the mud—I’d wear tall rubber boots with good tread if I were going today…

Queen of Nanaimo
Onboard the Queen of Nanaimo

These folks have lots of time as they watch Prevost and Salt Spring islands go by. They started in Tsawwassen, stopped at Galiano, stopped at Mayne, and will soon be stopping at Pender Island. And then they get to turn around and sail to Long Harbour on Salt Spring Island.

Hiking the Dunbabbin Trail, Salt Spring Island
A newborn Maple makes a valiant effort to grow amoung the ancient Cedars.

This short rainforest trail is currently struggling with the effects of substantial tree cutting on both neighbouring properties. And beavers continue to put their stamp on the west end of the trail, occasionally flooding the bridge and the low section of trail.
