It’s just a leaf.
I might have walked right by without noticing it last year.
But this year I find it interesting and special.

Sunset at the Beach: warm light on smooth rocks artfully arranged in a shoreline log

This old Garry Oak tree has a firm grasp on the remaining waterworks of a heritage homestead on Salt Spring Island.

Chesterman Beach near Tofino on a golden spring evening.
One set of clouds sailed by just as the sunset was warming up. I think it adds visual interest.
And the view at your feet (photo below) was lovely with the reflected gold of the sky.
And it sounded and smelled great.
Just a wonderful place for a body and mind tune-up.

*Today’s post is tagged with ‘Daytrip’ though perhaps an ‘Off-Island’ tag needs to be started. So yes, you can get to this spot (from Salt Spring Island) and back in a day, but if you stay for the sunset this time of year, there’s no way you’re making the last ferry. But then again, you really should stay for a couple of days…
Oh, and by the way, ‘tags’ on websites just help you search for all the posts with that tag. So clicking on the ‘Daytrip’ on the bottom right of the page will find all the ‘Daytrip’ pages for you.

Early morning on Trincomali Channel
A peaceful dawn from Fernwood pier looking east towards Walker Rock, Galiano Island and Active Pass.
The sliver of moon, Walker Rock and the moon’s reflection are lined up. Can you see them? (tough at this size)
Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
