The last rays of sunlight paint Fernwood Pier as a strong wind churns Trincomali Channel.

An unusually bright and complete rainbow appeared for a few minutes yesterday afternoon. This was the first of a few photos.
Coming home from a trip to Ganges, I noticed a partial rainbow over St. Mary Lake, didn’t stop, but hurried through a brief rain shower down to Fernwood where there’s a bigger sky. Luckily the rainbow and a faint 2nd rainbow had waited for me and for the cell phone wielding photogs I met there.

Walker Rock is a used as a rounding mark in one of Salt Spring Sailing Club’s races. As such it plays a part in many long tales, and some not so long. As I recall, in some high tides, a sailboat can round the mark tightly. If you’re not going to attempt this be sure to sail well past the western end as the rock is a fairly long one… And then there’s the time Jim were in a ‘bit of a blow’, approaching the rock and weren’t sure we could actually get the spinnaker down, so we…
