The BC Ferry, Howe Sound Queen, coming from Crofton on Vancouver Island nears Vesuvius on Salt Spring Island. On a good day the boat makes 13 round trips.
Equinox
On this first day of Spring, I was looking for an equinox image for our pals at National Geographic. And somehow I ended back at my new favourite Salt Spring Island mountain stream. In the rain this time.
I had expected there to be more flow in the stream, after seeing the torrent nine days ago. And I didn’t expect to see any of the iridescent green moss left either. I like the new cleaned-up, wet look and I think this it the best image yet. It seems more alive and vibrant.
Sometimes you need to work at a photograph until you get it right. Now I’m wondering what it might look like in moonlight or after a decent snow…
Any thoughts?
Breakfast at Hedgerow House
A hint of what breakfast is all about at Hedgerow House Bed and Breakfast. It’s a lovely eating area with sliding doors and a bank of skylights. This is a natural light photo with no lights or reflectors.
I was there taking a few photographs, mainly for their website.

Blossoms
A close look at some blossoms (after some wind) along the edge of Rainbow Road.
Air Ambulance at Lady Minto Hospital
This Helijet helicopter, a Sikorsky S-76 is contracted by the BC Ambulance service. Based in Vancouver, it has a service area roughly from Campbell River to Victoria to Kamloops. Today it was delivering a patient from Salt Spring Island to Victoria—a 12 minute trip.
